ABF Party volunteers loaded up the Land Rover “Lady Justice” and headed off from the Gold Coast to talk to NSW families about what’s happening for them in their communities. Here’s what they had to say.

“The route took us south to Grafton and then west through Lismore, Casino, GlenInnes, Inverell and out to Moree. We then turned south for Narrabri, Mendooran, Gilgandra and onto Dubbo.
In every town we stopped in locals talked of drought and a need for improved social services particularly around aged care and mental health services.

The weather was warm with clear blue skies which was not what the communities struggling with water restrictions and drought conditions needed. It was only until we were leaving Parkes on our way to Forbes did we get some reprieve from the heat with a storm blowing through and washing off some of the dust. Praying for rain paid off.

After Forbes we called through Wyalong, Peak Hill and Narrandera before stopping in Wagga for the night. From Wagga we made our way up to Gundagai, Yass and into Canberra. The team over-nighted in Canberra and after attending the Tent Embassy and Parliament house moved on to Goulburn and then Sydney.

It was in Sydney that we toured the campaign caravan around the CBD before heading out to Black Town to meet up with our Greenway candidate, Graham McFarland.

From Sydney we traveled north to Newcastle and the Port Stephens area to spend time with one of our NSW Senate candidates, Jewell Jury, before making a quick dash back to the Gold Coast.

We covered nearly 3000 kms, letter box dropped in 20 towns and spoke to dozens of NSW families who all now know who the Australian Better Families party is, and why we are working so hard to reform social policy.

As we traveled it was great to connect with ABF supporters and grow the volunteer network as we will need all hands on deck to put up cor-flute and attend the polls on election day to hand out how-to-vote cards.”

If you didn’t get to see the caravan in NSW on this trip don’t worry, our volunteers will be back in a few weeks to spend more time along the coast.

Next the team are off to connect with families in western and coastal Qld so please keep an eye on Facebook for updates on where we are going to be.

We are better together…
